We prepare medication in weekly/monthly medi-packs for patients having problems with taking their medicines. This service is offered following discussions with the patient/carer and GP, and is free of charge.

We dispense NHS prescriptions and will give advice on how to get the most benefit from your medicines. We keep a comprehensive stock of medicines and use a fast and efficient wholesaler service to enable us to fill all prescriptions promptly.

We can dispose of all unwanted medication safely whether expired or you no longer take them.

This is a free service funded by the NHS, which involves prescriptions being sent electronically, in a secure and confidential manner from your GP surgery to the pharmacy of your choice. For information please call in, phone, or email and we can guide you through the process.

If you need one of your regular medicines in an emergency when you are unable to contact your doctor, we may be able to help. We must stress that this can only be done in genuine emergencies and it may incur a charge.

We can collect your repeat prescription from the doctors, prepare it and have you medicines ready for either collection from the pharmacy or we can deliver them to you.

The Pharmacist and our trained assistants are available for advice on all medicines and minor ailments, in private if required. We can also give you advice on how to live a healthy life, for example, advice on how to stop smoking or healthy diets. We can direct you to other sources of advice and assistance if we can not help your ourselves.

This is an opportunity for our pharmacist to discuss and review the medicines you are taking to ensure you are using them correctly and getting the maximum benefit. We will explain clearly and simply, without any medical jargon, what they are for and the conditions they treat and identify any possible side effects that you may be experiencing. We will listen to you and any problems you are having with your medicines, provide advice and support and if necessary contact your Doctor to discuss any issues that arise from our conversation.

An MUR can help:

• improve your understanding of the medicines you are taking;
• highlight problematic side effects and propose solutions where appropriate;
• improve adherence
• reduce medicines wastage, usually by helping you only order the medicines you need

Our pharmacist may be able to conduct an MUR over the telephone or for eligible patient

If either yourself or someone you care for has problems remembering how or when to take a prescribed medication, we may be able to help with a compliance device. This is usually a card filled with one week’s supply of medicine, split into different times of the day for each day of the week. Please note, however, that such a device may not be suitable for all patients and potential candidates will need to be assessed before such an aid can be offered.

When you are prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time, the pharmacist will support you to use the medicine safely and to best effect. The pharmacist will talk to you approximately two weeks after you first receive the medicine to see how you are getting on with it and to discuss any problems you may have. A second follow-up will be a month after you first receive the medicine. The service is only available to people using certain medicines; our pharmacist will give you details and offer this free NHS service, if this is available to you

The pharmacy can provide advice and support to the residents and staff within a care home. This will ensure the proper and effective ordering of drugs and appliances improving efficiency and decreasing cost. Advice will be given on safe storage and administration of medication with record keeping.

We supply prescribed and over-the-counter medicines to the general public in a retail area of the pharmacy. We advise customers on the safe use of medicines and their possible side effects. In addition we advise on the treatment of minor ailments such as colds or sore throats, and sometimes refer cases to the doctor. The Pharmacy stocks a wide range of pharmaceutical, health care, perfume and beauty products.

Our computer allows us to keep records of all your prescriptions dispensed by us. This helps us check for possible problems, such as reactions between medicines and will help us deal with any queries you may have. We comply with the Data Protection Act and the NHS code of practice on confidentiality. If you want to discuss the records we keep, please ask to speak to the pharmacist.

Pharmacy First is our free Minor Ailments Scheme. It is available free to any patient registered with a doctor in the Sandwell Area and is exempt from prescription charges. To be eligible for this service you need to provide your NHS Number. The NHS number can be found on your NHS Medical Card, it can also be obtained from your GP Practice.

We can dispense NHS repeat dispensing prescriptions issued by your doctor. The surgery issue up to typically six month prescriptions in advance these are then dispensed on a monthly basis. Ask us for more information about this service.

We can order your repeat prescriptions on your behalf, you can either request your medication from us as and when required, or we can call you when your medication is due to confirm the items your require.
